Wendy Buchanan
Inspired by her brother, a young man labelled as having severe learning difficulties, Wendy changed her career path following over 20 years in the field of nursing.
Wendy has been working for Circles Network since 2000 training, facilitating empowering opportunities and working alongside individuals and families and promoting inclusion throughout the island of Ireland.
In addition Wendy has taken a particular interest in the concept of creativity and has undergone intensive training and developed strong links with Charlie and Maria Girsch of Creativity Central in Minnesota USA
Wendy is a natural facilitator specialising in person centred and fully inclusive practice which meets the many and varied support needs of disabled people (people with physical / sensory impairments, learning difficulties and enduring mental health issues) within a group setting.
A strong un-shifting value base underpins this work. Inclusion as a broad concept means creating communities where every member belongs and is accepted as a contributing citizen regardless of ability or label. Inclusion thus leads us to live our lives alongside one another despite our differences. Wendy believes that all people have gifts and capabilities and have the right to dream for their own personal aspirations.
Wendy prides herself on the quality of her work and maintains the highest standards working to ensure inclusion becomes a reality in our lifetimes. |
