Positive Praising for Challenging Behaviour

Our Positive Praising Approach is a set of strategies developed specifically for children with challenging behaviours. These methods have helped families to transform their child from using their intensity in primarily negative ways to using their intensity in creative and constructive ways. This approach has also helped teachers and other school personnel to have a dramatically positive effect on all children.

The approach is a powerful and quick way to create new opportunities for success, and has achieved results for children who have been diagnosed with:

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Autism
  • Foetal Alcohol Syndrome
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD)
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Reactive Attachment Disorder

Our approach has also produced excellent results with children with other abuse, neglect and chaos-related syndromes. Practitioners have had significant results in helping parents and teachers to rapidly succeed in becoming skillful and effective in helping children to achieve new levels of competency – almost always without the need for medications or long-term treatments.  Parents of children who challenge are typically given very few alternatives to medication as a solution. Already overwrought and tired this option is often taken up in desperation. By providing the techniques of Positive Praising many of the parents found that their children’s behaviour improved rapidly, making a difference to the whole family.

Ordinary methods of parenting typically backfire with intense children. Despite the best of intentions, the more adults attempt normal responses, the worse the situation inadvertently becomes. The culprits are the methods most people have at their disposal....not the parents, teacher, therapist or the child. Approaches designed for the average child are not powerful or encompassing enough. Positive Praising moves the child to believe that he or she can fully invest energy and intelligence in success.
