Challenge what you think……… Study disability issues as a collaborative venture between disabled people and service providers. You will experience an innovative and powerful opportunity to develop effective solutions to improve disabled persons’ experience of vital everyday activity.
Change your experience…… Promoting Inclusion, this adventurous programme has been designed with disabled people and educators. You will reflect upon and examine your understanding of the influences and societal trends which affect the experience of disabled people and consider how this could be different.
Do something different…….. Design a project about something which interests you and concerns local people. You will contact like-minded people who live or work near to geographically. The project-based modules will enable you to develop a range of skills and attitudes necessary to bring about sustainable change in services for the public. You will undertake collaborative interagency work and experience real partnerships between disabled people, carers and professionals.
The Key facts…….. Programme Structure: The programme consists of four 30-credit modules which may be studied at continuing education, undergraduate or postgraduate levels. The difference lies in the depth of study and the assessment requirements at each level. A 60-credit dissertation of 20,000 words or an agreed equivalent must also be completed to gain a masters degree.
Mode of delivery….. Open/distance learning mode. A range of materials is provided in each module pack. Small active projects form part of each module. You will be allocated a personal learning facilitator and a mentor.
Programme length……… Each module will take you a minimum of six months/ maximum twelve months to complete. Students studying at postgraduate (Masters) level will normally be expected to take a minimum of two years/ maximum ten years to complete the programmes.
